When life gives you lemons don’t just make lemonade, sell it! Make money out of the d#mn thing! (Cliche alert!) This is exactly what I always try to do, metaphorically of course.
In this story my lemon is my ambiguous work schedule. That will be as much as I will say because I don’t want this post to turn into a full on rant fest. This is a feel good story on how my weekends now begin on Thursdays. It was supposed to consist of three parts, unfortunately the turn of events did not permit the third one to happen. So yeah, I owe you that ONE coffee, you know who you are. The story is now down to two parts, the unexpected 24 hour challenge and the awesome session with my brothers. Both of these involve booze and good friends. Don’t judge and drink responsibly.
My phone alarm goes off by 2:00 am and my day begins. Wake up. Eat. Shower. Leave home. Work. Leave work. Home. That was the routine for the whole week. Thursday ends that routine and begins my weekend of adventures!
I as much as I can, I never pass up invites from friends. Kaladkarin is the word I often use to describe this trait of mine. I am a firm believer that time is the most important gift we can give people. This belief of mine lead to a adventure packed weekend.
Adventure number one, the 24-hour challenge one involves a good friend who is like my brother, awesome new people, food, booze, love and life talks, sexy singers, a motorcycle, and elementary school buddies. I joined my brother and his work buddies for a couple of beers. What I found amazing about this session is how comfortable I immediately felt. Except for my buddy, it was the first time I had met these people and yet it somehow it felt we had known each other for quite some time.
The night progressed into more stories and laughter with the voices of the sexy singers slash dancers serving as our background. When a familiar song is played we sing along, we swapped stories and views about love and life like we were indeed old friends. New friends, new adventure, life is good. It was around 12 in the morning when this part of my adventure ended.
A buddy from elementary school happened to work nearby. I was lucky to be able to hitch a ride on his motorcycle, since public transportation to my place at that time of the morning are hard to come by. My elementary school friends and I kept in touch even though we don’t get to hang out that often. This was our topic till we reached our hometown. Imagine our surprise when we saw one of the people we were talking about having an after work session at a store owned by one of our friends. we joined them for a few beers and planned a full scale reunion.
It was past two in the morning by the time I got home. The unexpected 24 hour challenge accomplished! #feelingproud Haha.
The next day I had to wake up early (I woke up at 10:45am. Haha.) to prepare my place for visitors. This is adventure number two. My brothers from college, the Busy Boys, were coming over later that day for one of regular sessions. These sessions are held alternately on each of our places. I was able to convince them that it was now my time to host. This was one of our longer sessions since they will be staying the night. These guys are the people I see myself hanging out with when we all have our own families until we are all old dudes. We were not complete, which was usually the case since we all have different commitments to attend to, but those who can always come to these session. After a dinner of home cooked sinigang, store bought sisig and Kapampangan chicharon (the one with a bits of meat stuck to the skin. Sarap!) We started the session. Stories from this session will be for us to know and for you to find out. Altough I will say this, it was quite uncomfortable since I found myself being the one on the hot seat. Haha.
Session continued till the wee hours of the morning. The next day was movie marathon day and before we knew it it was 5:00 pm. Before they went home, a sudden craving for samgyeopsal led us to this place.
I have eaten in some Korean restaurants before but It was my first time to try eating at this place. I must say I enjoyed it. I have had samgyeopsal on a different restaurant in the past and this experience is way better than the first one.
This unlimited samgyeopsal meal is complete with unlimited rice, egg soup and ice tea for only Php 289 per head. Sulit na! Lalu na kung matakaw ka. Haha.
Adventure number three sadly did not push through and had to be rescheduled at a later date. That’s how I made my lemonade and earned from it. Hehe. Looking for next weekend’s adventures!
more adventures coming..
